Lew Rockwell, founder and Chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute, discusses the consistently excellent moral and political record of Ron Paul throughout the years; why a foreign policy “Golden Rule” works best; the wisdom of cutting war spending before domestic entitlements during an economic crisis; the essentially (soft) fascistic US economic system of today; and whether or not public office can be the mechanism to reign in government excesses (in case of a successful 2012 Ron Paul presidential run).

The Political Doctrine of Statism
By Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.
May 26, 2011

The Patriot Act that was rammed through after the September 2001 attacks was one of the more egregious blows against liberty in our lifetimes. It shredded core rights and liberties that had been taken for granted for centuries. Liberties are never lost all at once, but the Patriot Act, as disgusting in its details as in its name and the rhetoric that surrounded it, was for the United States the turning point, the law that best exemplifies a full-scale embrace of statism as a national ideology. It is a law so severe, so outlandish, as to cause people to forget what it means to be free.

My Plan for a Freedom President

My Plan for a Freedom President – How I would put the Constitution back in the Oval Office.
By Ron Paul
March 5, 2010

Since my 2008 campaign for the presidency I have often been asked, “How would a constitutionalist president go about dismantling the welfare-warfare state and restoring a constitutional republic?” This is a very important question, because without a clear road map and set of priorities, such a president runs the risk of having his pro-freedom agenda stymied by the various vested interests that benefit from big government.

Of course, just as the welfare-warfare state was not constructed in 100 days, it could not be dismantled in the first 100 days of any presidency. While our goal is to reduce the size of the state as quickly as possible, we should always make sure our immediate proposals minimize social disruption and human suffering. Thus, we should not seek to abolish the social safety net overnight because that would harm those who have grown dependent on government-provided welfare. Instead, we would want to give individuals who have come to rely on the state time to prepare for the day when responsibility for providing aide is returned to those organizations best able to administer compassionate and effective help — churches and private charities.

Walter E. Williams: Understanding Liberals

Understanding Liberals
By Walkter E. Williams

The liberal vision of government is easily understood and makes perfect sense if one acknowledges their misunderstanding and implied assumptions about the sources of income. Their vision helps explain the language they use and policies they support, such as income redistribution and calls for the rich to give something back.

Dad Gives Toddler Battling Brain Cancer Medical Marijuana

May 8, 2011 1 comment posted an article from Daily Mail this weekend, I checked it out and watched the video. It was really an amazing story. The cannabis made is possible for the child to be able to eat. This is an amazing medicine and I believe this is a clear example of why we need to get the State out of the way so that we can discover even more healing properties that are just now coming to the surface.

To call what the Hyde family has been through a “parent’s worst nightmare” sounds like a horrible cliche. But, it’s hard to imagine what else you could call it. Their two-year old son Cash was diagnosed last year with a stage 4 brain tumor; he nearly died more times than they can count. He was miserable from the chemotherapy coursing through his body. Until his dad made a controversial decision to give cannabis to his young son. KXLY 4’s Melissa Luck reports.

Tom Woods on his new manifesto of freedom.

Digestible doses of beautifully written, relentless argument against the State and all lies, from Obama healthcare to destructive stimulus, from the Federal Reserve to the military-industrial “complex.” This may be the most important popular libertarian book in decades.
