Lew Rockwell, founder and Chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute, discusses the consistently excellent moral and political record of Ron Paul throughout the years; why a foreign policy “Golden Rule” works best; the wisdom of cutting war spending before domestic entitlements during an economic crisis; the essentially (soft) fascistic US economic system of today; and whether or not public office can be the mechanism to reign in government excesses (in case of a successful 2012 Ron Paul presidential run).

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul says the U.S. is never going to make Afghanistan a “grand Democracy” and it’s long past time to bring the troops home.

“Let’s clean up our act here. Let’s set an example for the world and let’s make sure people want to follow our lead and emulate us,” Paul says. “We cannot use force of bombs or buying with our month and tell other people how to live. It’s none of our business most of the time and it never helps our national security. And, besides, we’re broke.”

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) discusses the two competing bills on Libya — Dennis Kucinich’s legally binding demand for withdrawal and John Boehner’s nonbinding suggestion that Obama seek Congress’s approval, eventually; the rising antiwar sentiment among Americans, reflected but not necessarily shared by their representatives in Congress; why the new 2011 National Intelligence Estimate on Iran should be declassified; the unyielding US foothold in Iraq; and the Fed bailout money that went to foreign banks, plus more shenanigans blacked out in the Fed’s document dump.

Thomas E. Woods, author of Rollback: Repealing Big Government Before the Coming Fiscal Collapse, discusses Ron Paul’s preference for a joint police action to arrest and try Osama bin Laden, rather than a covert military operation/execution; Paul’s unhesitating subversion of the popular propaganda line, even though support for the rule of law is a political liability right now; why this may be Paul’s “Giuliani moment” for the 2012 presidential campaign; the conservatives who think civil liberties are touchy-feely Leftist artifacts and don’t see the connection to the Constitution; corporate America’s generous political contributions to Republicans and Democrats but not to the libertarian Paul (meaning they prefer the status quo of corporate welfare and regulatory capture instead of real free markets); the economics of prohibition and the futile War on Drugs; and the May 28 NullifyNow! event in Los Angeles with Woods, Anthony Gregory, Scott Horton and others.

Thomas E. Woods, Jr., is the New York Times bestselling author of Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse. A senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, Woods holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard and his master’s, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
