Is There A War On Cops? No. Just Our Rights.

Regarding a recent article on FoxNews.com – Authorities Fear Cops Being Targeted After at Least 11 Officers Shot in 24 Hours

It really got me thinking about the times just in the past year that I have heard of the cops killing civilians for no reason. Using deadly force when there is no threat to the officers life. The used to carry clubs, now they carry tasars and may people have died because of it. How many botched drug raids will result in a death? How many times will the police shoot an unarmed man and walk away as if it wasn’t murder? That is was drives anger towards the police – it is the thought in the back of every persons mind, especially in the last 10 years, that some cops will murder you for nothing.

“It’s not a fluke,” Richard Roberts, a spokesman for the International Union of Police Associations, told MSNBC.com. “There’s a perception among officers in the field that there’s a war on cops going on.”

That may be the perception among officers but I haven’t seen any growing wave of people anywhere saying “he lets shoot at the cops.” I think there is a much much greater perception among citizens that officers don’t care about our rights. The local police are letting the feds walk around in their state like they own the place. Allowing the TSA to touch us and violate our 4th amendment rights. Allowing the DEA to come destroy and take money from medical marijuana businesses.
From what I hear from my elders is that cops used to care about their local communities. Now it seems like they are all on some sort of power trip, licking the feds boots. There is no compassion in police work anymore, everyone is viewed as a possible threat and in turn guilty until proven innocent. When will the police take this into consideration? When will they respect the law and treat people fairly?
It’s “not a fluke” when a cop gets shot in the line of duty? A dangerous line of duty at that and with the State making so many laws – it’s a full time job.
My question is – How come nobody thinks it’s “not a fluke” when the amount of killings by police has been escalating over the past few years?

“There’s nothing in this that makes sense at all,” Police Chief Ralph Godbee told reporters during a briefing on the case.

While all the shootings don’t appear to be connected, Roberts says they have one thing in common.

“We don’t have any data, but there seems to be a type of criminal out there looking to thwart authority,” he told the station.

I agree, nothing make sense about senseless killings. I think a new respect of our liberties and constitutional rights all around would change the tune. I think I heard somewhere… that you should treat people the way you expect to be treated – if you don’t waste a second firing your gun at one of them – what makes you think they will give you any courtesy and not do the same? I ask the cops to please think twice or even three times before shooting, especially an unarmed man. How about shooting someone in the leg if they have a knife and you feel threatened instead of unloading a clip into his/her chest?
